Training Philosophy

Suppose you're looking forward to taking your first step into running. In that case, whether it's fast walking, run-walking, or running, or if you're planning to challenge yourself to a running race, achieve a new distance, or set a new Personal Best (PB), there is only one way to succeed - by moving out of your comfort zone.

My goal is to assist you in advancing in your training by providing you with a roadmap that will guide you using various tools and tactics, and support you every step of the way, providing regular communication, encouragement, and a positive attitude.

“To achieve goals you’ve never achieved before, you need to start doing things you’ve never done before”

Philotimo Coaching Approach

I believe the relationship between athlete and coach is the cornerstone of coaching. My goal is to guide the training. Once the objective is clarified, I like to break things down to ensure a solid foundation and to create positive habits for the body and mind right from the beginning (Build-in phase).

We are all at different fitness stages, and we all have different life obligations that can make our training difficult. With that said, I believe that being flexible, as an athlete and as a coach, makes any objective achievable.

For the walker or run-walk person, there will be some easy days, some hilly days, and some heart-pumping (aka effortful) days.

For runners of all levels, there will be easier short days, longer easy sessions, and hill, track, or longer intervals. In all cases, focusing on QUALITY over QUANTITY.

For the weekend warrior racer, on top of all the above, we will add race simulation in due time to add to the challenge and to be ready for race day.
